Dr U. Meenakshisundaram

​MD, DM, FRCP (Edin), FRCP (Glas) FAAN, FIAN, FPRD, FMDSI

Dr U. Meenakshisundaram is an eminent Neurologist in the country, with 30 years of experience in neurological medicine. He trained in Neurology from the prestigious Madras Institute of Neurology and has had a long career in academia as Professor and Head of the Department of Neurology at Sri Ramachandra Institute of Higher Education and Research. He headed the department of Neurology at Apollo main hospital, Chennai for about 4 years (2016-2020) before taking over as Director of Neurology at SIMS hospital, Chennai (2020 – 2024). He is now the Director of Neurology at MGM Healthcare, Chennai.

His primary areas of specialisation include Stroke, Movement Disorders, Vertigo and Eye Movement Disorders. He is one of the pioneers of using Botulinum toxin (Botox) in India for neurological purposes. He has a keen academic inclination and continues to be actively involved in teaching at both the national and international levels. He has been an invited faculty at multiple international conferences and has published numerous articles in prominent peer reviewed journals and contributed chapters to books on neurology.

He has been internationally recognised for his eminence in the field of neurology and is the recipient of multiple awards such as Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (Edinburgh), Fellowship of the Royal College of Physicians (Glasgow), Fellowship of the American Academy of Neurology, Fellowship of the Indian Academy of Neurology, Fellow of Parkinson’s and Related Disorders, Fellow Movement Disorders Society of India. He is a founding member of the Movement Disorder Society of India and is currently the Secretary of the Indian Academy of Neurology. He also serves on the International Task Force for Stiff Person Syndrome.

Dr U.M Sreenivas

MD, DM, MRCP (UK), SCE(UK), FEBN

Dr Sreenivas U.M., is a competent neurologist, trained in neurology at the prestigious Madras Institute of Neurology, Chennai. He has 6 years of experience in the field and obtained his Fellowship in Movement Disorders from King’s College Hospital, London and also trained in Movement Disorders at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, London. He then worked as a Consultant in Neurology and Stroke at Princess Royal University Hospital (PRUH) and King’s College Hospital, London, as part of the Parkinson’s Centre of Excellence. He was awarded the Fellowship of the European Board of Neurology.

He is now a Consultant Neurologist at Apollo Speciality Hospitals, Vanagram, Chennai. Previously he was a consultant neurologist at MGM Healthcare, Chennai. His main area of interest is Movement Disorders, with a special focus on therapeutics, DBS and advanced disease management. He is also highly proficient in management of Stroke, Vertigo and Neurological Emergencies.

He has contributed to multiple articles in peer reviewed journals, as well as chapters in neurology textbooks. He is the recipient of multiple awards, including the Torrent Young Scholar Award in Neurology and the European Academy of Neurology Brain Challenge.
